Awesome Avocados!!!

Pompey Chakravarty

Did you know the avocado is known as a superfood?? Kind of like the superhero of the food world. Why?? It offers nearly 20 vitamins and minerals in every serving. It's not only a rich source for Vitamins B and C but also contains generous amounts of potassium, magnesium and a small percentage of iron. While vitamins help you fight off diseases and infection, potassium helps control blood pressure.

Another interesting fact about the avocado is that it's low in sugar and contains fibre, so it helps you feel fuller. So, definitely an excellent food choice if you are trying to cut on the kilos.

But remember, everything is good in moderation!

Perhaps the only thing that works against this superhero of food is that it's high in fat; BUT it is monounsaturated fat, which is also known as the “good fat” which helps lubricate joints and lower blood pressure!

Now that you know about the numerous benefits of the awesome avocado, it's only natural that we share a few ways you can eat this fruit!

  • Guacamole

We don't know about you, but this is our all-time favourite avocado recipe. An easy recipe to make with a handful of ingredients and so good to taste with tortilla chips!!

  • Avocado on toast

If your mornings start with toast and chai, then all you need to do is add some avocado to it to give your mundane bread and butter a zing! Treat your avocado on toast as a blank canvas and add your favourite seasonings and veggies to make it even yummier!

  • Avocado smoothie

It might sound strange but this smoothie, once you try it you will want to start every morning with it. It's creamy, thick and healthy! Some other fruits that you can drop into this, depending on your tastes are frozen blueberries, cherries, strawberries, apple, cucumber, banana, or pineapple!

  • Avocado salads

If salads don't excite you, add a few slices of avocado and it will!! One simple avocado salad is the Tomato-Avocado salad. In a bowl, combine avocados, tomatoes, cucumber, corn, jalapeño, and cilantro. Gently toss with olive oil, lime juice, and cumin. Add salt and pepper to taste and you are all served :)

  • Avocado bowls

There are so many ways to prepare your avocado bowls, but perhaps the healthiest way to do this is add a few slices of avocado, carrots, cucumber and sauteed spinach to your quinoa bowl.

This is just one idea, you can get as creative as you want.

We particularly like shredded chicken, avocado, and corn in our rice bowl. Top it up with sour cream and guac, crush a few corn chips and walla!

  • Avocado desserts

Always save the best for last! And to finish off our awesome avocado story we have the absolute must-try chocolate-avocado tart!
